Privacy policy

This policy explains how LandscaperSearch ("we", "us") handles personal data. We aim to keep this short and honest.

Business listings

Our directory contains listings for landscaping businesses. Some are managed by their owners (claimed listings). Others are compiled from publicly available information such as company websites and public business records, and are shown as unclaimed listings. Where a listing relates to a sole trader or names an individual, that information may constitute personal data. We rely on legitimate interests (operating a useful local-business directory) as our lawful basis for publishing this public business information.

Ratings and review counts shown on listings are sourced from Google and link back to the original Google listing. We do not claim ownership of that content.

How we measure usage (no cookies)

We measure how the directory is used in a first-party, cookie-free way. When you tap an action on a listing (reveal a phone number, open a website, open Google Maps, or start a quote), we count that event. Alongside the count we record only a coarse country (for example "United Kingdom") and a device class (for example "mobile" or "desktop").

We do not set any advertising or analytics cookies, we do not store your IP address, and we do not track you across other websites. The counts are stored in aggregate form with Cloudflare (using Cloudflare D1) so we can see which listings and services are useful, not to identify individuals.

Cookie choices and consent

We store one strictly-necessary item in your browser (in local storage) to remember the choice you make in our cookie banner, so we do not ask you on every visit. We also keep a record of that consent so we can show it was given: the categories you chose, the date, a coarse country, and a one-way anonymised code instead of your IP address. We do not store your IP address or a raw device identifier. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer. Our cookie policy has the full detail.

Quote requests and enquiries

If you request a quote or send us an enquiry, we collect the details you provide: your name, phone number, email address (if given), postcode (if given) and your message. We use these details to pass your request to the specific business you chose, so that they can respond to you. That business receives your enquiry and becomes responsible for how it then uses your details.

We keep quote enquiries only as long as needed to pass them on and to keep a basic record, and no longer than is reasonable for that purpose. You can ask us to delete your enquiry at any time by emailing hello@landscapersearch.co.uk. We do not sell your personal data.

If you are a listed business

You can claim your listing to manage it, ask us to correct it, or ask us to remove it. Email hello@landscapersearch.co.uk and we will action reasonable requests promptly.

Hosting and third parties

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Hosting providers may process limited technical data (such as IP addresses in transient server logs) to deliver and secure the site. The site does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have rights to access, correct, or request erasure of your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to data portability where it applies. To exercise any of these, contact hello@landscapersearch.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
